Design Leadership

Every Trekker includes a built-in Launch and Retrieval System (LRS.)

Unlike single post davit cranes that can be difficult and more dangerous to operate – even in a light sea condition – Trekker’s overhead “gantry” design borrows heavily from the scientific and commercial world where heavy duty launch and retrieval operations must be conducted in open sea conditions.

The LRS is the heart of the adventure class profile. With this system in place, launching and retrieving a diverse array of adventure craft becomes easy and fast, with a tremendous increase in operational safety.

The design goals of Trekker’s LRS technology were clear and aggressive:

• Enable a mother, mature child, or guests to safely conduct launch and retrieval operations.
• Meet structural and operational requirements for heavy adventure craft including 2 and 3 man submarines.
• Utilize simple design and operational criteria suitable for private and charter service.

It is safe to say that no production yacht has ever incorporated these demands into the boat’s core design, and Trekker is leading the way with a simple and reliable system that makes it all look easy.

Easy to Operate

Operation is straight forward and controlled by a remote stern control station and/or wireless pod.

Launch Procedures:

• Attach the lifting harness to the lifting points on the adventure craft.
• Remove tie-down straps
• Position LRS above the craft’s center of gravity (COG); lower and connect LRS lifting cables.
• Lift craft from storage cradle to clear deck and railings.
• Rotate LRS rearward until craft is over water.
• Lower craft into position just aft the swim platform.
• Ease lifting cables and secure craft with painter and / or dock lines.
• Detach the lifting cables from the lifting harness and position the LRS in storage position.

Retrieval procedures reverse these steps. Once practiced, these procedures can be accomplished in one or two minutes – unprecedented performance that encourages its use by “real people.”

A wonderful byproduct of this LRS design is its ability to launch and retrieve the entire fleet of adventure craft while the boat is in its slip or against a pier or loading dock. This is a huge value - increasing the convenience of adventure itself – by removing the hassle and inconvenience of swing-aside davit systems.

Features:

• Hydraulic operation, efficiently linked to the system that operates anchor windlass and thrusters
• Pivoting cross beam – keeping the lifting cables at proper angle at all times
• Down lighting - makes low light / no light operations a snap – and can light up the “dance floor” when the upper deck is clear! (Can’t you hear the Jimmy Buffet tunes playing for the big BBQ party?)
• Operating beacon provides safety visual for other boaters; indicates a system ready condition, and makes neighboring yachts jealous!

Building the world’s highest performance passage makers means taking a leadership role in advancing safety, convenience, and capability. Trekker’s LRS technology is a clear commitment to delivering more adventure each and every day.

Isn’t that what it’s all about?
