Cousteau-inspired TREKKER wins design innovation award at Barcelona 2007

Barcelona International Boat Show, 9th of November 2007 – The TREKKER 75 has been awarded first place in the Madrid Diseńo de Yates Awards for Technical Innovation and Yacht Design.

“The TREKKER 75, winner of the Conceptual Design – Innovamar Award, is a trawler yacht capable of extended long range and coastal cruising with numerous auxiliary boats on board. The Trekkers represent a new philosophy in off-shore cruisers. Their design is efficient and ecological, being very environmentally friendly,” reads the announcement by Salon Nautico International De Barcelona.

Patrick Bray of Bray Yacht Design And Research received the award as the exclusive naval architect for Trekker’s new class of Motoryacht that is focused on expanding the market by serving up adventure to a more active and environmentally conscious customer lifestyle.

Trekker Marine Enterprises was formed in 2004 in honour of the legendary Jacques-Yves Cousteau who championed the need to develop sustainable business practices. Trekker is the first and only brand of vessels to be created on an environmental mandate, and offers their custom all-aluminium designs ranging from 65 to 165 feet in length.

Inspired by Cousteau’s iconic Calypso, every Trekker carries an unprecedented quantity of adventure craft and incorporates an integral launch and retrieval system (LRS) rated for submarine deployments.
